In honor of Veterans Day, The Watermark at Trinity wanted to share a wonderful story about another resident that was able to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Honor Flight of West Central Florida hosts multiple flights each year and Jack was able to go on the last flight of 2017! Jack’s son was his Guardian for the day and they both loved every minute of the day! Jack worked in D.C. for many years but said it was so much different experiencing it through this program. He had a wonderful time visiting all of the memorials and meeting other Veterans. While Jack and his son were having a great time in D.C., team members and residents at The Watermark at Trinity were preparing to attend the Welcome Home Celebration at the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport. As the Veterans started pouring into the Baggage Claim area, you could feel the energy and excitement increase. Residents shook the hands of 80 Veterans as they walked by. Towards the end of line was the man of the hour, Jack. As soon as he got close enough, residents and team members erupted with cheers and Jack was so surprised! The Welcome Home Party was more than Jack or his son expected. After visiting with residents, Jack got in line to take his picture with The Bomber Girls! To his surprise, the Community Life Director, Christina, was volunteering as a WWII Bomber Girl that evening. Christina has been volunteering with Honor Flight of West Central Florida for years and actually helped Jack apply for the flight! Before the night was over, Jack, his son, and all of the residents from Watermark took a group picture with the amazing Bomber Girls! Jack continued to talk about his experience for days and said he had never shaken so many hands. He said it was probably one of the best moments in his whole life! A big thank you to Honor Flight of West Central Florida and a big thank you to The Bomber Girls for all that you do to make Veterans smile! The Watermark at Trinity wants to honor every Veteran not just on Veteran’s Day but every day! Your dedication, service, and commitment to your country are truly appreciated. Thank you for defending our freedom and keeping us safe! Words will never be enough to express our gratitude but we will continue to honor every Veteran every chance we get!
